The Great IPR Debate

With the industry giants Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, NEC, NextWave Wireless, Nokia, Nokia Siemens Networks and Sony Ericsson coming to a mutual agreement on keeping IPR patent royalties below 10%, what will this mean for other vendors? Many innovative manufacturing companies and innovative start ups thar rely on selling IPR may become marginalised. Is such an agreement necessary? Why didn’t Motorola and Qualcomm sign up?

this is an interesting development but surely wimax still has an advantage given that the ownership of IPR is spread across so many more owners? Also, if Qualcomm hasnt signed up, this agreement isn’t likely to have much impact at all!

  2. Krishnamohan Says:

In the competing market, the companies living on IPR royalties only should find an alternative ways of getting revenues.
